More information about the video content bellow: 1. The oil and diamond-rich country is currently rebuilding at full swing after suffering from civil war for 27 years since independence from Portugal in 1975. Now the country of 19 million is finally at peace and is going through a dramatic rebirth. 2. The capital city of Luanda is now one of the most expensive cities in the world. Forget Tokyo or Moscow—Luanda wins. The high prices can be put down to the massive infrastructural investment taking place in response to the relentless gross-domestic-product growth from mining operations. 3. Ruacana Falls, one of Africa’s most beautiful natural wonders is located on the border between Angola and Namibia. 4. Angola’s traditional music is the semba – Brazilian samba is believed to have originated in Angola, where it’s known as “semba”. The two are very similar. Angolan semba was danced to celebrate different occasions and is known as the music of the sea. 5. Angola’s national tree is the majestic Imbondeiro – There is one tree that is special to Angolan. There was a popular belief that God planted this tree, also known as “Baobab” upside down. The unusual looking Imbondeiro tree can be found growing all over the country. Their growth rate is determined by ground water or rainfall and their maximum age, which seems to be in the order of 1,500 years. 6. Angola is the only country in which the Critically Endangered giant sable antelope lives. The antelope is confined to central Angola, where it is primarily located in the Luando Reserve and Cangandala National Park. 7. The government of Angola requires religious groups to petition for legal status with the Ministries of Justice and Culture. To get legal status however they need to abide by the Law on Religion, passed in 2004, which requires that a group should have more than 100,000 members and be present in 12 of the 18 provinces. This has made it hard for the estimated 70 - 80,000 Muslims, mostly migrants from West Africa and Lebanon, to practice freely and the government - which has disputed claims of being anti-Islam - is known to have closed mosques, schools, or community centres. Angola's post-war economy is booming and its capital, Luanda, is the most expensive city in the world after Tokyo. Although the country is Africa's second-biggest oil producer, most Angolans live on less than $2 a day. Meanwhile, the country's president and his ruling party have clung on to power for over three decades, gaining tight control of both the public and private sectors, and stifling dissent and protest.

Filth and nauseating smells have overwhelmed the city ever since the local authorities admitted that they'd run out of money to pay the garbage collectors. While yellow fever ravages the country - killing an estimated 250 people since December - residents now fear that these unsanitary conditions could further spread disease. 10 Most Expensive Cities In Africa 2017 ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Subscribe to our YouTube channel : https://goo.gl/oHL7nB ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Fluctuation has been a rising monster not only in Africa but also globally. Every day we wake up to a massive increase in prices of goods and services most produced within our borders. The cost of living has gone to new levels with no hope in line to curb the disaster. The outcry by the citizens has seen no change whatsoever. Looking at the most expensive cities in Africa, it is obvious that African is getting all swallowed by the westerns in terms of lifestyle. 10.Abuja (Nigeria) From data collected from 86 entries in the past one year, it shows renting a one bedroom apartment in Abuja one will have to pay at least 200,000 Naira per month. Accommodation in the city is so expensive that you have to question how so many people (over 900,000) survive in the city. 9.Conakry (Guinea) Conakry is a city located on the Atlantic Ocean which serves as the economic and financial and cultural center of Guinea. Monthly rent for 85 square meters (900 Sqft) furnished accommodation is 28,552,900 Franc. . 8.Bamako (Mali) Bamako is the capital city of Mali. It has a population of over 2 million people all competing for the available scarce western accommodation and products available in the city. 7.Brazzaville (Republic of Congo) Brazzaville is the capital of Congo. The majority have argued that only the very wealthy can manage to spend their lives in the capital. 6.Lagos (Nigeria) With so many people living in Nigeria, you expect the demand for products to be relatively high. Nigeria being one of the most populated countries in the world. Lagos being the capital city of Nigeria, an imported beer in the local pubs costs 500 Naira while a 500g fresh white loaf of bread costs 300 Naira. A one bedroom apartment in the city center goes for a monthly rent of 143,750 Naira. With two cities in the list, Nigeria is our most expensive country in Africa. 5.Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) Kinshasa is the capital and the largest city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At Kinshasa, an imported bottle of beer costs $2.50 while a 500g white fresh loaf of bread goes for $1.08 4.Libreville (Gabon) Another West African country in the list. From the look of the things, all oil producing countries have some high costs of living in their capitals. In Libreville, a 330 ml imported beer bottle costs a whopping 1,200.00 CFA while a one bedroom apartment in the city center goes for 1,000,000.00 CFA. Libreville is the 4th most expensive African city on our list. 3.Victoria (Seychelles) Victoria is one of the most beautiful cities in Africa. The current British prince of England, Prince Williams and his wife, Kate Middleton spent their honeymoon in the city. Milk (regular), (1 liter) goes for 23.50 Rs while Water (1.5-liter bottle) Costs 25.00 Rs. A one bedroom apartment located in the central city costs 11,666.67 Rs while the basic salaries for average employees stand at 6,483.33 Rs. Well, it takes a genius to budget that amount. 2.N’Djamena( Chad) N’Djamena is the capital and largest city of Chad. At N’Djamena, a 330 ml bottle of Pepsi costs a high 616.67 CFA while one-liter fresh regular milk goes at 1,475.00 CFA. A one bedroom apartment located at the city center applies to an average monthly cost of 505,067.96 CFA. The average salaries of the employees in N’Djamena earn a monthly 279,122.34 CFA. How can they afford the accommodation alone? The cost of living has gone so high in the city that only wealthy businesspeople and tourists are the only few who can manage to live in the Cad capital. 1.Luanda (Angola) Luanda is the capital city of Angola and the most expensive city in the world. Its rental cost is estimated to be between 10,000-35000 pounds. Main version of a promotional video of the Richmond condo, located in Luanda, Angola. Fully computer generated, this job includes modelling, shading, texturing, illumination, camera programming, motion graphics, vfx, edition, composition, soundtrack, sound fx, synchronization, rendering, post production and blu-ray authoring. The saturation has been pushed towards a more realistic sunset tone on post production, compared to the sub version of this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEna2Ch4hyc), at the cost of losing some shadow details. Special thanks to Andrew Kramer and "Wevmaster" for great ideas and hints.

Angola’s first new president in almost four decades vowed to rebuild an economy devastated by falling oil prices and fight corruption at his inauguration on Tuesday. João Lourenço told thousands of supporters in Luanda he would also tackle gaping inequality in Africa’s second largest oil producer - though analysts have already raised doubts about his ability to make far-reaching change. “No one is so rich and powerful that they cannot be punished and no one is so poor that they cannot be prote… READ MORE : http://www.africanews.com/2017/09/27/angola-president-lourenco-kicks-off-with-tough-economic-warning Africanews on YouTube brings you a daily dose of news, produced and realised in Africa, by and for Africans. Angola's government has denied it had banned Islam and closed mosques in the country, after media speculation that sparked outrage among Muslims worldwide. "There is no war in Angola against Islam or any other religion," said Manuel Fernando, director of the National Institute for Religious Affairs, part of the ministry of culture, onTuesday. "There is no official position that targets the destruction or closure of places of worship, whichever they are." Fernando told AFP news agency. David Ja, a spokesman for local Muslims, challenged the government's account and said that a number of mosques had already been closed. But according to the ministry of culture, those closures were related to a lack of necessary land titles, building licenses or other official documents. A witness in the province of Uige (Carmona) told Al Jazeera that the closed mosques were hastility built by expatriate communities from west and north Africa who needed a place to perform Friday prayers. "It's true that several mosques have been destroyed and others simply shut down in the last few months. Most of the mosques that were destroyed were built without government permission. Two authorised mosques in Luanda are still operating without a problem. I have not heard of any official decision to ban Islam or prohibit Muslim prayers in mosques." Ahmed ould Taher told Al Jazeera. Worldwide media coverage Reports that Angola, a traditionally devout Catholic nation, would crack down on Muslims had drawn condemnation from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and others. In Egypt, mufti Shawqi Allam said such a move would be "a provocation not only to Angolan Muslims but to more than 1.5 billion Muslims all over the world". The issue, which was first reported late last week, attracted huge media coverage worldwide and generated strong reactions on social media. The controversy was further fueled by the government's poor communication on the issue. The oil-rich southern African nation has a population of about 18 million people, several hundred thousand of whom are Muslims. Religious organisations are required to apply for accreditation in Angola, which currently recognises 83, all of them Christian. In October the justice ministry rejected the applications of 194 organisations, including one from an umbrella Islamic community group. Angola's oil boom has attracted large expatriate communities from across the world.
